A mix of the old and the new.  Goetz teams up with his longtime Brazilian drummer/ producer, Fernando Cardoso and Chaska Potter of Jason Mraz & Raining Jane to record a fresh take on his original songs.  The three linked up to create, Bikini Umbrella, a new project focused on building a unique, danceable, summer sound balanced with a dark, driving pulse. Inspired by the visual of the leather-skinned, sand-dwelling, beach vendors totting their bikini umbrellas across the sands of Rio de Janeiro, Bikini Umbrella is a mix of beach beat, tropical house, contemplative, narrative notes of a colorful, musical adventure.

Goetz is back from his travels to the remote Alaskan Arctic, the kingdom of Bhutan, and the Honduran Immigrant Caravan with a newly inspired sound. Pathways offers an optimistic lens during complicated times. Packaged with old-school California soul, flavors from around the world, Pathways is grounded in a movement towards empathy and turning to Nature in the midst of chaos.

On his recent tour through Brazil; the music, locals, and the overwhelming beauty of the Brazilian culture took Goetz by surprise. While in Rio De Janeiro, Goetz recorded two tracks with Arthur Maia and Sergio Chiavazzoli, both fifteen-year veterans of Gilberto Gil’s band, who is Brazil’s current minister of culture. This experience inspired Goetz beyond expectation and soon, what was intended to be a few songs organically grew to be Goetz’s introductory full-length album titled Indian Summer.

After having the honor of working with some of Brazil’s top musicians, Goetz returned home to California to record the remainder of the album. Goetz and Producer Sidh Solanki teamed up with an all-star cast of players: Jason Yates (Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Citizen Cope), Dave Ralicke (Jack Johnson, Beck, Fiest), Grecco Burratto (Sergio Mendes, Shakira) to name a few. The album is peppered with trilingual lyrics and catchy hooks. Goetz’s stripped down and soulful California sound paired with his unforgettable sessions in Brazil have yielded a cross-cultural fusion of California soul, reggae and world beats. While filming on location in Haleiwa, Hawaii directing his award-winning film Sofia, Goetz recorded early demos for his future EP “Outside Observer”, What began as a seedling of an idea while entrenched in the chaos of the International World Championships for surfing, became a composition for the title track, “Outside Observer” which was later featured in the film and became the first of a 5 song EP.
